Amazing Cross Wind Landings

Military vs. Local Law Enforcement

cartridges
Barack Obama has ordered a review of the distribution of military hardware to state and local police out of concern at how such equipment has been used

In his infinite wisdom he said the equipment may not be needed because there is
"a big difference between our military and our local law enforcement and we don't want those lines blurred."

It’s nice to know that bullets and shrapnel know the difference between the two and don’t intend to inflect damage to our law enforcement officers! It's nice to know that with hundreds of rounds fired at officers in the
North Hollywood shootout, and similar shootings, the officers need no real fire-power to take down thugs in full body armor. Thugs who are firing "military hardware" freely at the officers.

The arriving patrol officers, responding to what was initially a bank robbery, carried 9mm and .38 special pistols. Some were fortunate to have shotguns. They were up against two men who had a trunk load of ammo (literally) for their fully automatic weapons which were firing armor piercing bullets. Over 2,000 rounds of ammunition where fired before it all came to an end.

What makes the "military" the military is not the weapons in use. Likewise, weapons don't define "local law enforcement." You would think that a Commander in Chief would understand that.

But Barack Obama, in his great wisdom, wants to draw lines between "military" and "local" action. When armor piercing bullets are flying towards you, and when the enemy itself is in full body armor, do you stop to think... "Am I military or am I local law enforcement?" The president would ask you to do just that... after all,
"we don't want those lines blurred."

His Ways are Everlasting

"God's ways are the manifestation of the eternal principles of right, and therefore can never pass away." Spurgeon

Habakkuk - Chapter 3
1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.
2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.
6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

From Spurgeon:
"his ways are everlasting."
What He hath done at one time, He will do yet again. Man's ways are variable, but God's ways are everlasting. There are many reasons for this most comforting truth: among them are the following--the Lord's ways are
the result of wise deliberation; He ordereth all things according to the counsel of His own will. Human action is frequently the hasty result of passion, or fear, and is followed by regret and alteration; but nothing can take the Almighty by surprise, or happen otherwise than He has foreseen. His ways are the outgrowth of an immutable character, and in them the fixed and settled attributes of God are clearly to be seen. Unless the Eternal One Himself can undergo change, His ways, which are Himself in action, must remain for ever the same. Is He eternally just, gracious, faithful, wise, tender?--then His ways must ever be distinguished for the same excellences. Beings act according to their nature: when those natures change, their conduct varies also; but since God cannot know the shadow of a turning, His ways will abide everlastingly the same. Moreover there is no reason from without which could reverse the divine ways, since they are the embodiment of irresistible might. The earth is said, by the prophet, to be cleft with rivers, mountains tremble, the deep lifts up its hands, and sun and moon stand still, when Jehovah marches forth for the salvation of His people. Who can stay His hand, or say unto Him, What doest Thou? But it is not might alone which gives stability; God's ways are the manifestation of the eternal principles of right, and therefore can never pass away. Wrong breeds decay and involves ruin, but the true and the good have about them a vitality which ages cannot diminish.
This morning let us go to our heavenly Father with confidence, remembering that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever, and in Him the Lord is ever gracious to His people.

How Will You Be Remembered?

Years ago I was the pastor of a small church in Indiana. Sadly, I would soon find myself preaching my first funeral. A church deacon had retired from his job and he and his wife had taken a motor home to Florida for a vacation. He became ill, they returned, and in a short time he had been diagnosed with cancer. He died quickly. But, I remember sitting in his hospital room reading the 23rd Psalm repeatedly at his request.

The preaching of his funeral was easy, even for a new preacher like me. I knew he was trusting in the Lord. I had heard him say, "The Lord is MY Shepard, I shall not want". He knew that God would be with him. His passing saddened us all, but his funeral was actually a joyous occasion because of his faith in Christ and his relationship with God. I'll always remember this man for his faith and his love for God. And I remember it well......... I remember.

We Can Know!

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." I John 5:13

Can we know heaven for sure? The word of God says yes we can! John writes that we can KNOW that we HAVE eternal life. For those who have trusted Christ the future is sure and without doubt. No wondering... no hoping, no wishing. We can KNOW!
